SHILOH FARMS Organic Oat Bran contains about 50% more fiber and soluble fiber than rolled oats. It also significantly more nutrient-rich, containing higher levels of protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, riboflavin, magnesium, and zinc.
Oat bran is the edible outer layer of the oat grain obtained by milling dehulled steamed oats. Oat bran is a very concentrated form of soluble fiber which reduces the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream, and reduces the low-density lipoprotein (LDL), otherwise known as the "bad" cholesterol. Once consumed, oat bran enters the digestive tract, where its soluble fiber absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance (bolus), creating a feeling of fullness. This process removes calories from the body and slows down sugar assimilation.
Oat bran can be eaten raw or cooked as a cereal.
To Cook: To 1 cup of boiling water, stir in ¼ cup of oat bran and boil about 2 minutes, or to your preferred consistency.
Suggestions:
1. While cooking, stir in ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Top with milk, dried fruit or nuts, and your favorite natural sweetener.
2. Give a nutritional boost to breads, cookies, muffins, pancakes, and other baked goods.
3. Add to casseroles, meatloaf, or hamburgers.
4. Mix a little oat bran into breadings or crumb toppings.
5. Sprinkle directly over oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, or cottage cheese.
6. Stir into smoothies or shakes.

Almost sweet, small grains that are lovely to eat just with cold water (for ascetics) or blended with almost anything.
