SHILOH FARMS Whole Wheat Pitas are hearth baked with the wonderful old-world texture and taste. The "pocket" in pita bread is created by steam, which puffs up the dough. As the bread cools and flattens, a pocket is left in the middle. When removed from the oven, the layers of baked dough remain separated inside the deflated pita, which allows the bread to be opened into pockets, creating a space for use in various dishes. People fill the pockets with various ingredients to form a sandwich.

To Prepare:
Keep Frozen until ready to use, then allow to thaw at room temperature. Heat in a warm oven to enhance the flavor.
Suggestions:
1. Split and fill the pita bread pockets with your favorite salads, hummus, avocado or sprouts
2. Fill pita pockets with fresh berries and whipped cream cheese desserts or treats.
3. Vegetables and meat dishes are great in the pita pockets.
4. Try your favorite egg omelet in a pita pocket.

As you can see, I have written two previous reviews for this pita bread. I'm Whole Food Plant Based, Forks Over Knives, Esselstyn plan, and this is the only bread I eat, it was recommended by Ann Esselstyn! It is made without oil. I don't put anything in it or on it, because it is too delicious all by itself after toasting. It is my treat comfort snack with a cup of decaf morning and afternoon.

These are the most wonderful pitas and the only whole wheat pita I can find that doesn't contain sugar or other additives. It's completely 100% whole grain and it has only stone ground whole wheat flour, water, salt, and yeast in it. They are delicious and when you warm them up a bit whether by oven, pan, or microwave, they have that wonderful bakery aroma of fresh baked bread. They truly are the best.

I am very aware of shipping and packaging as being not good for the environment, but Shiloh Farms pita broke right through that barrier. I tried a store bought brand, but it had a few other ingredients, and was not as tasty to me. So with apologies to the earth goddess, I am back to ordering my case of pita, freezing it, and enjoying my two toasted pita halves, whenever I want a snack---it's like a cookie to me. My healthy eating plan follows the WFPB (whole food plant based) no-oil recommendation described in Forks Over Knives, so there is no Oreo option.
