Bulgur Onion Pilaf

Organic Bulgur has a nutty flavor and versatility that make this a great ingredient in several dishes in Middle Eastern cuisine.  Organic Bulgur is pre-steamed and stone milled from organic whole grain hard red spring wheat. 

Organic Bulgur is healthy, easy to cook with and can be used in a variety of ways. Its flavor adds that unique something to a dish that makes for an enjoyable meal with its texture, taste and nutrition.

To Cook:  Sort and rinse:  Boil 2 parts of water and add 1 part of bulgur.  Cover and simmer about 20 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed.

Suggestions:
1.  To heighten the nutty flavor of bulgur, toast it either wiith oil or toast dry in a skillet.
2.  Use bulgur as a bed of grains in place of rice for vegetable stir-fries and stews or for bean dishes such as chili.
3.  Bulgur pilafs of all kinds are possible. Suggestions; use a  lot of sauteed garlic and onions, or chopped dried fruits and nuts or chick peas and mushrooms with aromatic spices and  fresh herbs
4.  Cook bulgur further in a small amount of liquid (milk or juice) to make a hot breakfast cereal.   Top with chopped nuts or dried fruits and/or a sprinkling of cinnamon. 
5.  Use bulgur to stuff vegetables such as winter squashes or as a stuffing for poultry.
